Surface Dynamics

The group led by Professor Höfer investigates the dynamics of adsorbate reactions and elementary excitations on solid surfaces. We use and develop laser spectroscopic techniques such as optical second-harmonic generation (SHG) and two-photon photoemission (2PPE) with time resolution up to 10 femtoseconds to obtain a detailed microscopic understanding of atomic movement and of electronic excitations at surfaces and interfaces.
